Her Experience in Our Online Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher Training
Leading up to the moment I decided to sign up for the 200hr Trauma-Informed YTT I had experienced quite the journey. After having multiple surgeries and being diagnosed with Lupus in 2019, I began to experience pretty extreme symptoms of my chronic illness. Chronic fatigue, pain, and generally feeling unwell.
For 3 years I tried different medications and pushed through symptoms, continuing to work toward my undergraduate degree as well as working a few different part-time jobs.
When I graduated, I was completely burnt out. After graduating, I decided that I was taking a year to heal and work on myself.
Skipping through a lot of stuff that happened in the middle, I began to learn about how trauma impacts our bodies and how working with our Nervous System can ease all kinds of symptoms. I started doing yoga again and one day decided I wanted to do teacher training for myself and my own healing.
I found SYI when I was reading Brooke’s profile on a local yoga studio’s website. I stumbled upon the training, saw that it was trauma-informed, and addressed issues of social justice and DEI and I was sold.
I had no idea the impact this training would have on me. I knew I wanted to look at going into a therapeutic line of work, and this has given me so many skills to get started.

I want to help folks with chronic pain and conditions, I want to work with kids, and I want to, in general, be a guide for people on their healing journeys. My goal is to go to graduate school to become a therapist and until then you can find me teaching music, building a personal yoga business, maybe working in a therapy center of some kind, or working with a local school district to provide yoga classes to teachers and school employees.
I also feel passionate about bringing a trauma-informed lens to all that I do and giving others the resources to do the same. I feel so hopeful for the future for the first time in many years. I’m committed to continuing my own healing journey so that I can successfully help others on their own path. Thank you for this training, it is SO needed.
