Her Experience in Our Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher Training in Costa Rica
I have just completed my 200h Hybrid Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher Training in Montezuma, Costa Rica and I am feeling so incredibly honored to have the opportunity to share my story!
I have been passionate about Holistic Wellness for years and I am currently studying Holistic Nutrition here in Canada! I am specifically focusing my practice towards supporting individuals that may be struggling with eating disorders. After completing my first certification in the ED field I came to the understanding that eating disorders are very commonly correlated to previous trauma. I became very interested in how I could learn more about trauma through a holistic perspective. This is when I came across School Yoga Institute and the Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher Training.
I have absolutely adored practicing yoga in the past, as I find it the most effective form of self care for me! After some consideration and reading through the SYI website, I made the decision to send my first inquiry email. Once hearing back from SYI about this training, I decided that this was absolutely the best opportunity for me. From the moment I committed to this training, to this present day, I am 100% sure that I made the right decision for both my career, as well as myself!
The training began online for the first 2 weekends and I was blown away by how seamlessly we worked through the first 2 cycles of this Trauma Informed Training. The course work itself was so clear, so informative, and so interesting! It felt as though the lectures flew by due to the interesting conversations and experiences that would arise from these topics.

I will definitely be hanging on to my manuals and powerpoints for life and I plan to utilize these resources so much in my future endeavors!!
Once I made it to Costa Rica I was so excited to meet the 21 other women I had met on zoom, in person. Meeting everyone was so special and it surprisingly felt like I knew and loved these women so much already, due to our close connections via zoom.
The in-person training was truly life changing and one of the most beautiful, authentic, special experiences I have ever had. The knowledge I have gained from my teachers, my classmates, and the environment itself, has allowed me to leave Costa Rica feeling so blessed and excited for my future. I have so much love for my classmates, my true soul sisters throughout this journey, and I am so grateful for our plans to remain in touch and to meet post training.
There are not enough words to describe my absolute love and gratitude for Brooke & Jeanine, my ever so inspiring teachers throughout this training. They have provided the safest and most special container to learn, laugh, love, and cry. They are absolutely my role models and I wish to have the same effect on others in my lifetime, as they have had on me. Their pure kindness and vulnerability during this experience has allowed me to come home feeling much more in tune with myself and how I would like to show up in this world.
I hope that everyone has an opportunity to meet and train with Brooke & Jeanine, because it will have such a positive impact on your life. I will forever be thankful to both of these inspiring women, from the bottom of my heart.
After the training, I have returned home with a new sense of hope. I am hopeful that we can continue to share our knowledge of becoming trauma informed with anyone willing to listen and I am hopeful we will truly begin to see a change, not only in the yoga community, but in our day to day lives.
